Part 2: Light & Shadow — The 7 Universal Laws, the 7 Deadly Sins, and the Shadow Side of Spiritual Growth
In Part 1, we explored the structure behind the 7 Universal Laws and how they shape reality through energy, cause and effect, rhythm, polarity, and consciousness.
But understanding universal laws is only half the journey.
To truly grow, we must also understand the shadow.
Every force in the universe has polarity. Light and dark. Expansion and contraction. Creation and destruction. The same principles that guide growth can also distort when they operate without awareness.
Throughout history, different traditions have described this shadow side in different ways. In Christian theology, it was framed as the 7 Deadly Sins — pride, envy, wrath, greed, lust, gluttony, and sloth.
Psychology calls it the unconscious.
Spirituality calls it shadow work.
Energy systems call it imbalance.
Different language. Same human patterns.
These are not proof of evil.
They are signs of energy out of alignment.
Listen to the full episode below or continue reading to understand how the 7 Universal Laws connect to the 7 Deadly Sins — and how to recognize these patterns in your own life.
The Law of Polarity: Why Light Always Has a Shadow
The Law of Polarity teaches that everything exists on a spectrum.
Confidence and arrogance.
Ambition and greed.
Passion and rage.
Rest and laziness.
Pleasure and overindulgence.
They are not separate forces.
They are different degrees of the same energy.
For example:
Confidence becomes pride when self-worth turns into superiority.
Desire becomes greed when wanting turns into never-enough.
Healthy anger becomes wrath when emotion overrides self-control.
Rest becomes sloth when recovery turns into avoidance.
When awareness is present, energy stays balanced.
When awareness is absent, energy swings to extremes.
Spiritual awakening is not about eliminating the shadow.
It is about recognizing when you are moving too far to one side of the spectrum.
How the 7 Universal Laws Connect to the 7 Deadly Sins
When understood through energy and psychology, the 7 Deadly Sins can be seen as distorted expressions of universal law.
Mentalism (Everything Begins in the Mind) becomes pride when we believe our perception is the only truth.
Correspondence (As Within, So Without) becomes envy when we compare instead of reflect inward.
Vibration (Everything Has Energy) becomes wrath when intense emotion controls behavior.
Polarity becomes division when we cling rigidly to one extreme.
Rhythm becomes gluttony when we indulge every impulse without discipline.
Cause and Effect becomes greed when we chase outcomes without considering consequences.
Gender (Masculine and Feminine Energy Balance) becomes imbalance when action overrides intuition or passivity replaces responsibility.
These distortions show up in everyday life:
Scrolling social media and feeling envy.
Overworking to prove worth and falling into pride.
Reacting in anger instead of responding with clarity.
Avoiding difficult conversations and calling it “keeping peace.”
This is what shadow work looks like in real life.
Not dramatic. Not mystical.
Practical.
How to Recognize These Patterns in Yourself
Awareness begins with simple observation.
Notice when you feel reactive instead of responsive.
Notice when comparison replaces gratitude.
Notice when you are chasing validation instead of alignment.
Instead of asking, “What is wrong with me?”
Ask, “Which energy is out of balance right now?”
That shift changes everything.
Shame keeps people stuck.
Awareness creates space.
Space creates choice.
Choice creates change.
Integrating the 7 Universal Laws Into Daily Life
You do not integrate spiritual principles by reading them.
You integrate them by observing yourself in real moments.
Before reacting, pause.
Before judging, reflect.
Before blaming, examine your own internal state.
Small moments of awareness prevent extreme swings of polarity.
Balance is not perfection.
Balance is correction.
The goal is not to eliminate pride, anger, desire, or rest.
The goal is to bring them back into alignment.
That is spiritual growth.
That is personal responsibility.
That is awakening.
