Untold True Story — From Grief to Growth: My Story of Healing, Reparenting & Spiritual Awakening
In this heartfelt episode of the podcast, I stepped out from behind the microphone and into the spotlight to share my personal story—one that’s shaped who I am today. Joined by my former therapist and now dear friend, Susan, and my cousin Tina, who learned many parts of my story for the first time, we explored the layers of grief, trauma, and transformation that have led me to a place of peace, purpose, and spiritual alignment.
This conversation wasn’t just about revisiting the past—it was about reclaiming my truth and using it to empower others on their own healing journeys.
Healing Begins With Vulnerability
When I lost my mother at just seven years old, I didn’t understand what grief was. I was placed into a new home and a new life, surrounded by people who didn’t know how to process loss. Emotions were silenced, and love was often conditional.
As a child, I learned to stay quiet, to please others, and to sense the energy in every room before I spoke. What I didn’t realize then was that these were survival skills—ones that would take years to unlearn.
In the episode, we talk about how unprocessed grief can shape our identity and how finding the courage to face it can open the door to deep emotional healing.
Breaking the Silence Around Childhood Trauma
For much of my life, I carried pain that no one talked about. Physical and emotional abuse, neglect, and the constant feeling of not belonging became part of my story. But silence doesn’t heal—it hides.
Through therapy and self-work, I began to understand that trauma isn’t just what happens to us—it’s how our body and mind respond to it. My healing began when I gave myself permission to speak, to feel, and to finally be heard.
Reparenting Myself: Learning to Feel Safe Again
One of the most powerful parts of my healing journey has been reparenting—learning to give myself the love, safety, and compassion I didn’t receive as a child.
That meant:
Setting boundaries without guilt
Listening to my body and emotions
Allowing myself to rest and reset
Creating a safe space within myself
Reparenting isn’t about blaming the past—it’s about rewriting the story so that your inner child finally feels safe to grow.
Spiritual Awakening & Finding My Inner Compass
Spirituality became the anchor that guided me through the darkest parts of my healing. It taught me that the pain I carried wasn’t a punishment—it was a pathway to purpose.
I learned that:
We can only love others as deeply as we’ve healed within ourselves
Guilt and shame keep us stuck, but self-compassion sets us free
Our triggers are invitations to heal, not reasons to hide
Through meditation, energy work, and connecting with my intuition, I discovered that inner peace is the foundation of outer peace.
Breaking Generational Cycles
One of the most meaningful parts of this conversation was reflecting on how healing doesn’t stop with us—it ripples outward.
By facing my pain, I’ve been able to model emotional awareness and honesty for my children. I’ve learned that breaking generational trauma isn’t about perfection—it’s about presence, awareness, and choosing differently.
Protecting Your Peace
As Susan reminded me during the episode, protecting your peace is sacred work. That means being selective about who and what you allow into your energy—whether it’s people, social media, or even your own thoughts.
You are allowed to choose peace over chaos, healing over habit, and authenticity over approval.
Empowerment Through Choice
For a long time, I lived in a victim mindset—asking, “Why did this happen to me?”
But healing taught me a new question:
“What can I create from this?”
When we take ownership of our healing, we reclaim our power. We stop waiting for someone to save us and realize—we were always the ones meant to do the saving.
A Message for Anyone on Their Healing Journey
If you’ve experienced loss, trauma, or the pain of feeling unseen, I want you to know this: you are not broken.
Your story matters. Your healing matters. And your vulnerability is your superpower.
This episode is a reminder that no matter where you’ve been, you can rebuild, reparent, and rise.
