The Metamorphosis: Donna Kreisler and the Decision to Stop Waiting to Be Saved
Some awakenings arrive quietly.
Others arrive when life leaves us sitting on a curb asking:
How did I get here?
For Donna Kreisler, there wasn't one instantaneous transformation.
There were many.
Her story is a reminder that awakening and embodiment are not the same thing.
We can recognize a pattern long before we're ready to change it.
We can know a relationship is unhealthy and remain.
We can know we're unhappy and continue the same routine.
We can know we're capable of more while still being terrified of becoming someone we've never been before.
Donna knows those spaces because she lived them.
BEFORE THE METAMORPHOSIS
Donna remembers herself as a disciplined child growing up in Palm Beach, Florida. She excelled academically and even became one of Florida's top-ranked ice skaters.
Then her parents divorced.
At 12½, Donna and her sister moved with their mother to Israel—a country they knew of but did not truly know, without speaking Hebrew and suddenly separated from their father.
Her life shifted.
So did Donna.
She rebelled.
Years later she would recognize something much deeper beneath many of the choices she made: the need to prove she was worthy of attention and love.
She described spending years operating on “automatic pilot”—following conditioning she didn't yet understand.
THE CURB
At 31, Donna was a newly divorced mother struggling financially.
One day she returned home carrying groceries and her baby.
Her electricity had been disconnected.
Donna sat on the curb and cried.
And somewhere inside the overwhelm came a decision:
She didn't know how.
She didn't know when.
But she was not going to remain there.
Donna identifies that moment as the beginning of her journey. Yet she makes an important distinction: the awakening did not immediately create the transformation.
It took approximately another decade of learning, experimenting, failing, growing and gradually applying what she was discovering.
AWARENESS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING
This became one of the strongest themes of our Awakening Truths conversation.
Awareness matters enormously.
But awareness without action can become another place where we remain stuck.
Donna began reading, studying personal development and examining her thoughts, habits, beliefs and identity.
Slowly things changed.
Some areas changed faster than others.
And that mattered.
Because Donna's journey challenges the fantasy that healing and transformation move in a straight line.
They don't.
Donna describes transformation as a metamorphosis—and reminds us that some people need longer inside the cocoon than others.
There is no competition.
THEN SHE LOST EVERYTHING—AGAIN
Awakening didn't protect Donna from another devastating chapter.
Years later, a business investment went wrong.
Donna says she became nearly $1 million in debt. Around the same time, her relationship ended and she lost her job.
Eventually an opportunity brought her back to Los Angeles.
She arrived with around $300.
And rebuilt again.
Her current work reflects what came next. Donna's website describes her experience building and scaling businesses, training thousands of professionals and transforming her own health—including losing 150 pounds. (Donna Kreisler)
But perhaps her greatest transformation wasn't financial or physical.
It was internal.
BECOMING THE PERSON WHO CAN CREATE THE RESULT
Donna began understanding that wanting different results wasn't enough.
Different results required different thoughts.
Different habits.
Different decisions.
Different boundaries.
Different actions.
Ultimately, they required a different identity.
That philosophy now appears throughout Donna's Prosperity Mindset framework, which centers awareness, clarity and decision, identity, daily habits and discipline, execution and personal responsibility, and integration. (Boss Biz Map)
DO IT AFRAID
Change doesn't necessarily become comfortable because it's right.
Sometimes the familiar—even when painful—feels safer than an unknown future.
Donna's answer?
Do it afraid.
Fall down.
Get back up.
Make the mistake.
Learn.
Try differently.
Her analogy during our conversation was beautifully simple: when a child learning to walk falls down, the child doesn't conclude that walking isn't meant for them.
They get back up.
Again.
And again.
Until eventually they're running.
THE AWAKENING TRUTH
Perhaps the deepest truth inside Donna's story is that taking responsibility for our future doesn't mean denying what happened to us.
It means recognizing where our power exists now.
Donna told us that the younger version of herself will always remain part of her. She eventually forgave herself and her parents and accepted that everyone had done what they could with what they had.
Then she offered listeners something far more useful than a promise of overnight transformation:
Do the work.
Take the step.
Stop waiting for perfect timing.
Don't give up.
Because there may not be someone coming to save you.
But there is someone capable of changing the direction of your life.
You.
