Life Gets So Much Better | Self-Trust, Accountability, Awakening & Hope
Sometimes the thing we spend years trying to find isn't something new.
It's something we remember.
For Awakening Truths Spotlight Guest Katlyn Boucher, that remembering began with something she'd experienced as a child.
The Connection She Remembered
Katlyn describes herself as a deeply sensitive child.
She loved nature.
She remembers seeing angels and having experiences she considered spiritual.
Her mother called her a “fairy child.”
Then, around the age of six or seven, something shifted.
That connection didn't feel the same anymore.
Katlyn interpreted it as having lost something.
And what followed was a quiet feeling of separation:
Why isn't anyone else talking about this?
Was it only me?
Where did it go?
Those questions would eventually follow her into adulthood.
When Relationships Distort Reality
In her twenties, Katlyn experienced an abusive relationship followed by another controlling relationship.
She described one of the deepest effects as losing confidence in her ability to discern reality.
When your experience tells you one thing...
and someone close to you repeatedly insists it's something else...
self-trust can slowly erode.
Katlyn left those relationships.
But leaving a relationship doesn't necessarily mean everything it taught you immediately leaves too.
The work of rebuilding herself continued.
The Life Everyone Said She Was Supposed to Want
Katlyn had also questioned conventional ideas of adulthood from a young age.
Career.
Marriage.
Family.
Success.
As a teenager, she wondered whether that was truly the entirety of life.
Interestingly, years later, her perspective became more nuanced.
She came to see meaning inside many of the ordinary roles she'd once dismissed—including career, marriage, parenting and everyday responsibility.
That's an important part of awakening too.
Our perspective evolves.
We don't simply discover answers.
Sometimes we discover that the question itself has changed.
When Distraction Stops Working
Katlyn built a teaching career.
She worked hard.
And she entered the familiar social rhythm of her twenties:
Work during the week.
Party on the weekend.
But the habits shifted.
Social drinking became drinking alone.
Social smoking became smoking alone.
Katlyn eventually realized the issue wasn't really the drink or cigarette.
Those things were helping her avoid something.
Discontent.
She wasn't listening to what she felt called toward.
And the longer she avoided it, the louder that internal disconnect became.
Accountability Is Different From Blame
One of Katlyn's central teachings today came directly from her own journey.
If you're pointing one finger outward...
three are pointing back toward you.
That can sound harsh if misunderstood.
But Katlyn isn't talking about blaming people for what someone else did to them.
She's talking about identifying the only part of a situation over which we ultimately have direct power:
ourselves.
She described accountability as profoundly empowering because it moved her away from feeling that life was simply happening to her.
What can I learn?
Where do I have choice?
What pattern can I change?
What am I willing to do differently?
You can't force another person to transform.
You can begin with yourself.
Returning to the Connection
Katlyn eventually found herself working with a holistic therapist.
That therapist introduced her to a Life Activation and later Empower Thyself Initiation through the Modern Mystery School.
Katlyn described her Life Activation experience as reconnecting with the gifts she remembered from childhood.
Not suddenly becoming someone else.
Remembering something familiar.
The Life Activation is a 1:1 in personal healing modality, or activation, that certified Life Activation Practitioners offer around the world. The Life Activation is 3,000 years old and comes from Egyptian magick, taught exclusively in Healers Academy 1 with the Modern Mystery School.
For Katlyn personally, the experience became a turning point.
She continued studying.
Training.
Teaching.
And eventually co-founded Unity Healing Institute with her husband, Brandon.
The Royal Lineage of King Salomon
During our conversation, Katlyn also took us deeper into what she calls the Royal Lineage of King Salomon within the Modern Mystery School tradition.
One idea that particularly resonated with the conversation was her understanding of royalty.
Not status.
Not superiority.
Not fancy possessions.
But care.
Consideration.
Decorum.
Reading the room.
Asking:
“How can I serve this space?”
Katlyn described royalty as a way of carrying yourself with awareness of how your presence affects others.
That connects beautifully to her current professional philosophy.
Authenticity Isn't Just Saying Everything
Katlyn also challenged a modern idea about authenticity.
Sometimes we treat authenticity as:
“I'm just saying exactly what I think.”
But what if what we're expressing is our wound?
Our defensiveness?
Our complaint?
Our fear?
Katlyn distinguishes between those reactions and what she considers the self underneath them.
For her, becoming more authentic hasn't made her less considerate.
It has made her more interested in the person in front of her.
More curious.
More aware.
More interested in asking:
How can I serve?
From Education to Spiritual Service
Katlyn's work today combines several threads that were visible throughout her life.
She began as a teacher.
She later completed a master's degree in education specializing in Waldorf Education.
Her work with children and families helped her notice how strongly adults' own inner work influences the children around them.
And her spiritual training eventually became another form of teaching. Her current Unity Healing Institute profile describes her as a Healer + Guide + Educator, with a particular emphasis on connection and empowerment. (https://unityhealing.institute)
Maybe the career changed.
But the thread remained.
Teach.
Guide.
Connect.
Serve.
Know Thyself
Katlyn summarizes the heart of the work simply:
“Know thyself. Create your life on purpose.”
Unity Healing Institute similarly describes Katlyn and Brandon as supports who provide tools and techniques while encouraging people to uncover answers within themselves. (https://unityhealing.institute)
That's a meaningful distinction.
A guide can walk beside you.
A teacher can share a tool.
A practitioner can provide an experience.
But ultimately...
the life is yours.
Life Gets So Much Better
Near the end of the interview, I asked Katlyn to go back.
Not physically.
Emotionally.
Go back to the younger version of herself.
The woman navigating unhealthy relationships.
Questioning herself.
Carrying the early layers of pain and confusion.
What would Katlyn say now?
She cried.
She pictured walking toward that younger woman and giving her a hug.
And then:
“Guess what? Life gets so much better.”
Maybe that is the line worth carrying from Katlyn's story.
Not:
Everything happens overnight.
Not:
Pain isn't real.
Not:
You'll never struggle again.
Simply:
It can get better.
And when Katlyn was asked what she hoped listeners would remember, she brought it back to one word.
Hope.
Hope for another way.
Hope for another version of your life.
Hope that you matter.
Hope that something inside you is still waiting to be remembered.
Sometimes hope is enough to get us through the chapter before we understand what comes next.
And sometimes...
that's where awakening begins.
